Oct. 14th Fishing Report

Fished the past two days with charter group up from Connecticut. Great bunch of guys and all fishermen to boot. Found plenty of boats at the NWC Sunday morning so we trolled towards the Southeast, I want to find some of our own water to work, can't handle trolling in fleet of 150 boats. All by ourselves we find some fish and Bang!!! Swimmer goes off, all hands do their job and Tim slips on belt and begins a 20 minute fight. See color and we're ready to gaff when POP and plug comes back Without the fish, oh well....Been there done that!....Set back in and within 10 minutes we're on again but this time fish gets the gaff and we're on the board. Marked well for the rest of the morning but no love. Back out yesterday and there's wayyyy less boats, bite goes off just before slack and within an hour and half we've had three fish to the boat, one for dinner two get the tag. Again quiet the rest of the day. All fish hitting swimmers. Couldn't get a sniff on anything up top whereas in previous trips it was the sluggos and the Ocean Lure halfbeak plug that was taking em'. Well be back out this week and will continue with the reports. We're gonna fish these well into November as the Kelly Ann is built for foul weather and I always keep the heat on in the cabin...I hate the cold!

Fishing Report Oct 4th, 2008

In a  word,  Tuna,  the Bluefin Tuna bite is really on right now and will most likely stay that way until well into November,  this week we got out twice and both trips were steady solid action, many hookups and fish brought to the boat.  We are mostly trolling and setting up on the jig if conditions seems right, I think the jigging thing will pick up as we move later into the season,  we'll see, but I know one thing, the fish will get hungrier, meaner and bigger!!!

Fishing Report Sept. 21, 2008

What a great week of Tuna fishing, three trips and on all three we caught fish.  The fish all seem to be in the 60"/125lb range and are putting up quite a battle for each and every angler.  I went out with friends on Tuesday and even got to battle one myself, now I know why I love this sport.  On the other fishes, Cod/Haddock are making a good showing out on Jeffrey's, and inshore Bluefish are in and out, great fishing one day and spotty the next.  If you're interested in any fishing we'll be running out of Gloucester for the rest of the season (puts us much closer to the fall fishing grounds) and going up until Dec. 1st.

Till next week

Fishing Report Sept. 7th, 2008

The Tuna fishing is now in full force.  It's definitely worth checking these out.  Most fish are in the 55"-65" range and are proving to be brutes on lighter tackle outfits.  Giant Bluefin Tuna are also being brought in on a regular basis.  Our Giant Tuna charters are all a per person trip so call for info.  These fish should continue to eat here through October and into November.  Bluefish are also here in big numbers, with many larger Blues mixed in with smaller.  Striped Bass are back in good numbers and are chasing local Pogies up onto beachfronts.  Til next tide.

August 31st, 2008

It's been and up and down week on the Kelly Ann.  We started our week with fantastic Bluefishing, some of the best Bluefish action I have ever seen and ended up not being able to troll up a School Tuna on Saturday's charter, first time I've had a Schoolie charter and couldn't produce a fish.  That was very frustrating, but I guess you can't hit em every time up...At least the Bluefish help save the day and there were plenty of laughs to go around...The Giant Tuna bite is really starting to pick up and we'll start to target them this week, if anyone is interested in trying to land one of these monsters just give me a call as it's a per person charter.  I'll also be running some open boat school Bluefin Charters in the coming weeks so again if interested give me a call or shoot me an email.  Sharks are here in good numbers and being September it's also time to go 'sharkin'....Cod/Haddock are still very productive and the dogfish (shhhhhhh) haven't been too much of a problem!  Til next week.  Tight lines.

Fishing Report August 24th, 2008

Well it's been tough keeping up with these weekly reports, but here goes.  The Bluefishing has been outstanding in Ipswich Bay, it seems every trip we are catching one after another. Lots of fun for anglers.  The Striped Bass has hit the August doldrums a bit but we still managed quite a few keeper Bass on every trip thus far.  The Cod/Haddock are still out on Jeffrey's in good numbers and we've been targeting them around the area of the ridge with success.   We finally managed a Tuna trip this week and ended up with a very respectable 125lber. caught on the troll down off Stellwagon.  There are loads of fish down there and they are on the feed, so its TUNA TIME!!!  There are also plenty of big Blue Sharks moving onto the ledges and we will start targeting them in the next week or two....Stay tuned.  With fall around the corner the water temps will start to fall and the fish will become hungry, that's why I love fall fishing.  Till next week, take care and tight lines....Capt. Fishing Report August 10th, 2008

As has been the case the Striped Bass action has been red hot leading up til last week, with many 40"+ Bass coming into the boat. Since the beginning of the year we have been lucky enough to have Mackeral here to use as live bait, but all that changed this past week as the Bluefish have invaded our local waters. They are here in outstanding numbers....Now is the time to go after these fun fighting fish. Giant and School Bluefin Tuna have also come in and we will begin targeting them this week. We will continue to run inshore Striped Bass and Bluefish trips as long as the fish stay. Starting Sept. 1st it will be offshore Tuna time!!! If you cannot get together six friends to share the price of a full day charter, please give me a call or shoot me an email and we'll see if we can either put together a shared trip or we'll also be running a per person Bluefin Tuna rate....Call for details. As always tight lines and safe fishing.
